54-Year-Old Man Stabbed on Queens Subway After Accusing Attacker of Speaking Too Loudly On Phone
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK — A 54-year-old man was stabbed in the stomach aboard an E train in Queens after a confrontation with another passenger who was allegedly speaking too loudly on his phone, according to police.
Incident Details
The altercation occurred around 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 22, as the E train approached its final stop at the Jamaica Center–Parsons Archer subway station. Authorities said the victim asked a man seated nearby to lower his voice while talking on his cellphone.
The request quickly escalated into an argument. Witnesses told police that the suspect became enraged and punched the victim in the face several times before stabbing him in the abdomen with a blade.
Aftermath and Police Response
The attacker reportedly fled the train as it arrived at the station, leaving behind a scene of chaos and panic among passengers. Emergency medical services rushed the victim to Jamaica Hospital, where officials said he is expected to survive.
Police have not yet identified or arrested the suspect, and an active investigation remains underway.
Rising Violence in the Subway System
Saturday’s attack follows another violent subway incident just three days earlier, when Tyquan Manassa allegedly slashed two strangers and assaulted a third on a Manhattan-bound E train platform at the Kew Gardens–Union Turnpike station.
Transit authorities and police officials have expressed growing concern over increasing assaults on New York City’s transit system, particularly during morning and late-night hours.
Community Reaction
Commuters say the latest incident has added to their anxiety about safety while riding public transportation. “It’s getting out of hand,” one frequent rider said. “You can’t even tell someone to keep it down without worrying about being attacked.”
Police continue to review surveillance footage and have urged anyone with information about the suspect to contact the NYPD Crime Stoppers tip line.
