98 Pounds Of Ketamine Seized During I-80 Stop Near North Platte
NORTH PLATTE, NE — A North Carolina man is behind bars after Nebraska State Patrol troopers discovered nearly 100 pounds of ketamine hidden inside his vehicle during a traffic stop on Interstate 80 late last week.
Trooper Discovers Drugs After Routine Stop
According to a press release from the Nebraska State Patrol, the incident occurred around 11:25 a.m. Thursday near mile marker 179, when a trooper observed a westbound Hyundai Tucson speeding on I-80.
During the stop, the trooper noticed THC vape cartridges in plain view inside the vehicle. After conducting a search, troopers discovered vacuum-sealed bags containing suspected ketamine packed inside several suitcases in the trunk.
Officials confirmed the total weight of the seized narcotics was 98 pounds. Troopers also located over $4,600 in cash during the search.
Driver Arrested On Multiple Charges
The driver, identified as Trevor Frisby, 28, of Wilmington, North Carolina, was arrested and booked into the Lincoln County Jail. He faces several charges, including:
- Possession of a controlled substance
- Possession with intent to deliver
- Possession of money during a drug violation
The Nebraska State Patrol said no other occupants were in the vehicle at the time of the arrest.
Major Interstate Drug Corridor
Interstate 80 remains one of the nation’s busiest drug trafficking routes, often used to move illegal narcotics between Denver, Chicago, and the East Coast. Nebraska troopers routinely conduct highway interdiction operations targeting large-scale drug transport.
Authorities have not yet confirmed where Frisby was traveling from or the intended destination of the seized ketamine.
The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges could be filed pending laboratory testing of the substances recovered.
