Beidelman Furniture, one of longest running businesses in the suburbs, isn’t going anywhere even though a “for lease” sign recently posted in the downtown Naperville business’ window has been drawing some questions and concern from passersby.

The furniture store at Washington Street and Jackson Avenue has been around for 159 years and run by the same family for its duration. A “for lease” sign advertising 1,900 to 14,500 square feet is posted next to a sign on a window that celebrated 150 years of business for the company in 2011.

“Same family, same corner, same commitment,” the sign from 2011 reads.

The brick three-story building dwarfs most downtown Naperville buildings, and the co-owners are trying to lease out a section of the building along Washington Street where Penzey’s Spices once was, along with another unit on Jackson Avenue that previously contained the Tango restaurants.
