Bronx Teen Among Alleged Armed Robbers Accused of Stealing $100,000 in Jewelry During Violent Crime Spree
BRONX, NY — Authorities in New York have arrested a group of alleged gang members — including a 16-year-old boy — accused of committing a two-week spree of armed robberies across the Bronx that left several victims shaken and one man permanently leaving the borough.
According to the Bronx District Attorney’s Office, the suspects, linked to the Trinitarios gang, allegedly stole over $100,000 in jewelry during the violent series of attacks.
Robberies Captured on Camera
Video surveillance footage shared by the New York Post shows one of the robberies in progress. In the clip, two masked suspects on a motor scooter ambush a victim on the sidewalk, ripping jewelry off before speeding away.
The incidents followed a consistent pattern: the attackers targeted victims wearing visible gold chains or watches, often striking in daylight before quickly fleeing.
Officials say the crew robbed at least seven people between late October and mid-November, including an elderly man who was reportedly so traumatized by the attack that he decided to move out of the Bronx entirely.
“The actions of these individuals terrorized innocent residents and left an entire community on edge,” said Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark in a statement.
Teen Among Those Arrested
Investigators confirmed that the suspects were part of a loosely organized network connected to the Trinitarios, a gang known for violent crimes throughout New York City.
The youngest member of the group, a 16-year-old, was among those taken into custody following a joint operation by the NYPD and the Bronx DA’s Office.
Detectives said that the group used scooters and motorcycles to coordinate “snatch-and-grab” style attacks — yanking chains, watches, and rings from their victims before escaping through crowded traffic corridors.
Community Impact and Legal Action
The wave of robberies drew widespread concern among Bronx residents, many of whom have been calling for more police patrols and stronger youth crime prevention programs.
“It’s unacceptable that residents can’t walk down the street without fearing they’ll be robbed at gunpoint,” DA Clark said. “We’re committed to holding every individual accountable — no matter their age.”
All suspects, including the juvenile, face robbery and conspiracy charges, and prosecutors are considering additional gang-related enhancements under New York’s anti-organized crime statutes.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing as detectives work to recover the stolen jewelry and identify any additional victims.
The arrests mark a significant step in combating what officials describe as a rising trend of scooter-assisted robberies across the Bronx and neighboring boroughs.
