Colorado Police Arrest Suspect Accused of Stalking High School Girls and Moms Along Bear Creek Trail

LAKEWOOD, COLORADO — Police in Lakewood have arrested a man accused of stalking women and teenage girls along the popular Bear Creek Trail after residents reported being followed and harassed in recent weeks.

According to the Lakewood Police Department, investigators had been searching for the suspect after receiving multiple reports of a man following female joggers, high school students, and mothers with strollers in the area. Authorities released a public alert and photo of the man on Monday, and within 24 hours, he was identified and taken into custody.

Ongoing Pattern of Stalking Along Bear Creek Trail

Police say the suspect had been frequently seen on or near the Bear Creek Trail, where he allegedly trailed behind women and girls, making them feel unsafe. Several victims described being followed for long stretches of the trail before the man would turn and disappear into wooded areas.

“This has been an ongoing concern for our community,” a Lakewood Police spokesperson said. “We’re grateful to the residents who came forward with information that helped us identify and locate the suspect so quickly.”

Authorities confirmed that the man is connected to a series of stalking complaints that date back several weeks. Detectives are now reviewing additional reports to determine if he may have been involved in other similar incidents around Lakewood.

Public Safety and Community Response

The Bear Creek Trail, a scenic path frequented by walkers, runners, and cyclists, had recently become a point of concern for local residents after several women posted online warnings about suspicious behavior in the area.

“We understand how frightening these encounters can be,” the department said in a community update. “Our priority is making sure residents and families feel safe using public trails again.”

Police have not yet released the suspect’s name but confirmed he is in custody and cooperating with investigators. Charges are pending as detectives continue collecting statements from potential victims.
