Columbus Man Found Shot to Death in Brookstone Home Identified
COLUMBUS, Georgia — Authorities have identified the man found shot to death inside a Brookstone subdivision home on Monday as 65-year-old Norman Lane, according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan.
Victim Found Inside Home on Brookstone Drive
Bryan confirmed that Lane was discovered dead from a shotgun wound inside his residence at 6320 Brookstone Drive on the morning of October 6, 2025. The victim’s next of kin, who was at the scene, was the person who found his body and contacted police.
Investigators with the Columbus Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit and the Crime Scene Investigation Division responded to the scene and began processing evidence. The case is being investigated as a possible home invasion.
Police Investigation Ongoing
Authorities have not released any information about possible suspects or motives. Officers have continued canvassing the neighborhood for witnesses and surveillance footage that may help reconstruct what led to the deadly shooting.
Neighbors in the typically quiet Brookstone area said they were startled to see a heavy police presence Monday morning. One resident described the area as “normally peaceful,” calling the situation “shocking and tragic.”
The Columbus Police Department has not announced any arrests as of Tuesday afternoon.
