CHILLICOTHE – It may not have the pageantry and atmosphere of an IHSA state meet at Peoria’s Detweiller Park, but there will be plenty of competition at the ShaZam XC High School Championships this weekend at Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe, Illinois.
The Edwardsville boys and girls teams, competing as the Edwardsville Cross Club, will run on Sunday in the High School Division III meet for Class 3A schools, while Father McGivney senior Tyler Guthrie is running as an individual in Friday’s High School Division I meet for Class 1A schools. All teams and clubs are participating separately from its high school as it isn’t an IHSA-sanctioned event — high school coaches won’t be involved.
The meet starts at 9 a.m. each day with the girls Nos. 6 and 7 runners in the first of four flights, followed by the Nos. 5 and 4 runners at 9:30 a.m., the Nos. 3 and 2 runners at 10 a.m. and the No. 1 and individual runners at 10:30 a.m. The boys will follow the same flight schedule starting at 11:30 a.m.
