Florida Woman Sparks Debate After Leaving $0 Tip at Buffalo Wild Wings Over “Terrible” Service

ORLANDO, FLORIDA – A British woman living in Florida has gone viral after sharing her frustrating experience at a Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant that led her to leave no tip — a decision that has since divided the internet. The woman, identified as Megan (@megangulyard) on TikTok, posted a video recounting how poor service and long delays ruined what was supposed to be a simple family meal.

A Family Meal Gone Wrong

In her video, which has been viewed more than 141,000 times, Megan documented her visit with her family to a Buffalo Wild Wings location, jokingly describing the outing as “a family of four, plus half a baby,” since she is pregnant.

She explained that after ordering two kids’ meals, mac and cheese, fries, and drinks, things quickly began to fall apart. “We didn’t even get the food,” she said. “She didn’t put the food in.”

According to Megan, the family waited 37 minutes as they watched other tables being served, even though the restaurant was not busy. When she finally approached the manager, she learned their order had been forgotten. “It wasn’t even busy. It was empty,” she said in disbelief.

One of the kids’ meals had already been missed earlier, and the server admitted she had forgotten to enter it into the system. “When the first one came out, she said, ‘Oh gosh, I think I forgot to put the other food in,’” Megan recalled.

After nearly 40 minutes with no apology or update, Megan and her family decided to leave. Their check came to $15.57, and she made it clear in the video: “We tip off of service, and the service was absolutely awful.”

Just as they were walking out, one of the managers brought out the food, but it was too late. “It looked so nice,” Megan said. “I wanted to cry.”

Online Users React to the $0 Tip

The viral clip has reignited a familiar discussion about tipping etiquette and what kind of service warrants gratuity. Many commenters supported Megan’s stance, saying she was justified in leaving no tip after being ignored for so long.

“Absolutely no tip,” one commenter wrote. “Like who forgets food in a restaurant? You did right.” Another user added, “That’s insane. Mistakes happen, but not apologizing or fixing it? That’s plain rude.”

Others, however, took a more nuanced view, suggesting the server might have been overwhelmed or mismanaged. “This is tough,” one commenter noted. “She did terrible but she still did some work for your kids’ food. Hopefully management didn’t over-seat her.”

The post quickly drew attention beyond TikTok, sparking debate about restaurant service standards and the growing fatigue around tipping culture in the U.S.

Buffalo Wild Wings Faces Broader Complaints

Megan’s experience isn’t unique. According to data compiled by Trustpilot, Buffalo Wild Wings holds a 1.6 out of 5 rating, with many customers citing long waits, order mistakes, and inattentive service. The chain was also ranked among the “Top 10 Restaurant Chains with the Slowest Service” by Cheapism, a consumer-focused news outlet.

On Reddit, multiple users echoed similar experiences, sharing frustration about inconsistent service depending on location and staffing. “Why does Buffalo Wild Wings get so much hate?” one post read, with many users responding that poor management and understaffed shifts often lead to slow or forgotten orders.

Tipping Culture and Consumer Expectations

Megan’s video highlights a growing divide in how customers view tipping in the United States. While many Americans consider tipping essential regardless of service quality, others argue that gratuities should reflect the experience.

Experts note that tipping culture has grown increasingly complex as consumers face rising costs, while many service workers depend on tips to earn livable wages.

Megan has since stated she does not plan to return to Buffalo Wild Wings anytime soon. “We tip for good service,” she emphasized. “Not for being ignored.”
