Neuqua Valley senior Mark Gronowski had the goal to put his name in the conversation as one of the best football players in the state.

“I just wanted to prove myself,” Gronowski said. “With the media and other colleges in the country that overlooked me and show who I am and what this team was capable of.

“It definitely gave me a chip on my shoulder.”

Gronowski, a South Dakota State recruit, made his second year as the starting varsity quarterback a memorable and historic one.

The 2019 Naperville Sun Football Player of the Year passed for 1,663 yards and 15 touchdowns while also rushing for 721 yards and 12 TDs as the Wildcats (9-2) scored an average of 35.1 points.
