The Illinois Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) announced its class of 2020 inductees for the organization’s Hall of Fame and a few with area ties were selected.

There are multiple categories for the Hall of Fame, including coaches, career coaches, players, friends of basketball, officials, media and more. Two coaches were selected with Journal-area ties, along with one player, one official and one media member.

Stevenson boys basketball head coach Pat Ambrose was selected as a coach inductee. Entering this season, his career record is 423-166 (.718) in 20 seasons and he started his 21st season by going 4-0 and winning the Ed Molitor Thanksgiving Tournament at Palatine last week. He is by far the most successful boys basketball coach in Stevenson’s history. The other six coaches before Ambrose won a combined 417 games from 1965-1999. Ambrose took over in 1999-2000 season and never had a losing record. Before Ambrose took over, Stevenson was 417-441 overall as a program. Entering the 2019-20 season the Patriots program record was 840-607.
