LA Fitness will take over a portion of the long-vacant Dominick’s store on Route 59 in south Naperville, Mayor Steve Chirico said.
The store stood unused for five years because Albertsons, the parent company of Jewel-Osco, held the lease on the property until November, city officials said. The other portion of the 3116 S. Route 59 building is a boutique grocery store, the name of which hasn’t been announced.
Chirico said he is “super excited to get that space filled.”
“It’s hard to find those types of users for those types of spaces,” he said. “Even though it’s not a traditional use for a retail strip center, that’s happening more and more now. Service businesses are filling these spaces now.”
