Lifeguards at Centennial Beach this summer may look more mature than they have in the past.
Ray McGury, executive director of the Naperville Park District, is encouraging people in their 50s and 60s to apply for jobs as lifeguards, saying it would “be a great thing for the culture of our employees.”
“I talked to several people last year at the beach, many of whom are in their 50s, early 60s, retired and in great shape,” McGury said. “I believe many of them are putting in applications to work down at the beach. I encourage them to do so.”
