Lincoln Police Investigate Apparent Murder-Suicide After Couple Found Dead In Home

LINCOLN, NE — Police in Lincoln are investigating the deaths of a man and woman as a suspected murder-suicide after officers discovered both victims inside a home Friday morning.

Couple Found Dead During Welfare Check

The Lincoln Police Department said officers responded to a welfare check around 10:45 a.m. Friday at a residence near South 14th and Sumner Streets, after concerns arose about the couple’s safety.

When officers entered the home, they found two 51-year-olds — a man and a woman — dead inside a bedroom. Both had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, according to police.

No Ongoing Threat To Public

Authorities said early evidence suggests the case is a murder-suicide, adding that investigators do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the public. The victims’ names have not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.

The Lincoln Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit continues to process the scene and review forensic evidence to confirm the sequence of events.

Community Reaction And Next Steps
