Louisiana Bank Robbery Suspect Used Fake Limp, Cane, and Neck Brace in Daylight Heist Before Fleeing Without a Limp

LOUISIANA — Police in Slidell are investigating a bizarre daylight bank robbery in which a man wearing a fake neck brace and pretending to limp stole an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing without any sign of injury.

The incident took place on November 7 at a Fidelity Bank branch in Slidell, Louisiana. According to authorities, the suspect entered the bank around midday, wearing a medical neck brace, a hat, face mask, and using a cane, in what police now say appeared to be a deliberate disguise.

Robbery Caught on Camera

Surveillance video released by the Slidell Police Department shows the man approaching a teller while leaning heavily on the cane. Once at the counter, he allegedly handed the teller a note demanding cash and shouted that it was a robbery.

Bank staff complied with the demand, handing over an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect then walked out of the bank slowly at first — still pretending to limp — but began moving normally once outside, investigators said.

Police Confirm Disguise Was Part of the Plan

Authorities believe the limp and neck brace were part of an intentional disguise meant to conceal the suspect’s identity and movements.

“He put a lot of effort into the disguise,” said a Slidell Police spokesperson. “It appears he wanted to make himself memorable for the limp and medical gear while diverting attention from his real features.”

Once he exited the building, witnesses told police the suspect tossed his cane and walked normally toward a nearby street, disappearing before officers arrived.

Investigation Ongoing

Detectives are reviewing security footage from nearby businesses and collecting potential witness statements to track the suspect’s movements after the robbery. Police have not released details about the amount of money stolen or whether the man was armed during the incident.

The Slidell Police Department has asked anyone with information or video evidence from the area around Fidelity Bank on November 7 to contact their investigations division.

“We’re asking for the public’s help identifying this individual,” the department said in a statement. “His unusual disguise makes this case stand out, and someone may recognize him from the clothing or accessories.”

Community Reacts to Brazen Daytime Crime

The robbery, carried out in broad daylight, has raised concerns among residents about increasingly bold criminal tactics in local financial institutions. Bank employees are receiving additional security briefings following the incident.

No injuries were reported, and no shots were fired during the robbery, officials confirmed.
