Naperville resident and Ukrainian native Bogdana Kashperovetska has had to watch from afar as her homeland Ukraine has been under attack from Russia over the past few weeks. Her parents currently live in Vinnystia, where Russians have bombed the airport, making it difficult for residents to leave the country. Since the attack, she’s had some late nights checking in to ensure the safety of her parents.

“If it’s midnight here it’s 7 a.m. there, so I’m usually up until 11 p.m., midnight, 1 a.m. just to reach to them and ask” said Kashperovetska.
