NAPERVILLE, IL — When the coronavirus crisis hit, business at Tailoring by Monica in Naperville had to grind to a halt, but that doesn’t mean owner Monica Gawalek has stopped sewing. The local tailor turned her talents to sewing thousands of face masks for front line workers and community members and she’s not stopping there.

Gawalek told Patch she has sewn some 3,000 masks and made donations to Edward Hospital via a nurse who works there. Gawalek said, “I decided to sew masks and give them away for free because I wanted to serve my community and give back to the people who have supported Tailoring by Monica throughout the years.”
