North Carolina Warms Into the 60s Tuesday as Raleigh, Charlotte and Wilmington See a Quiet, Partly Sunny Day
NORTH CAROLINA — A calmer and slightly warmer pattern is settling in across the state Tuesday, with partly sunny skies and afternoon highs climbing into the 50s and 60s for most communities. After recent active weather, today is shaping up to be a tranquil break for much of the region.
Early indications point to a mild southwest breeze around 5 to 10 mph, with some areas of fog possible during the morning hours before skies brighten through the day.
Piedmont Cities Reach the Lower 60s
Across central North Carolina, temperatures are expected to rise comfortably into the lower 60s. Greensboro is forecast to reach around 60 degrees, while Durham and Mebane sit near 61 degrees. Raleigh is projected to top out near 62 degrees, continuing the gradual warm-up trend.
Farther west in the foothills, Hickory is expected near 62 degrees, with Statesville around 61. Charlotte is forecast to reach approximately 63 degrees, making for a pleasant late-winter afternoon.
Sandhills and Southern Counties Climb Into the Mid-60s
In the Sandhills and southern tier, warmer readings are more noticeable. Fayetteville is expected near 64 degrees, with Laurinburg, St. Pauls, and Lumberton reaching about 65 degrees. Clinton and Whiteville are also forecast in the mid-60s. This pocket of slightly warmer air will make it feel more like early spring across the southern half of the state.
Mountain Areas Stay Cooler but Mild
Western North Carolina remains cooler compared to the rest of the state but still seasonable. Boone is expected near 59 degrees, while Banner Elk checks in around 58. Asheville is forecast near 62 degrees, and surrounding communities such as Franklin and Sylva are in the lower 60s.
Higher elevations will naturally stay on the cooler side, but no significant cold air is expected today.
Coastal Communities in the Upper 50s to Low 60s
Along the coast, highs vary depending on proximity to the water. Wilmington is forecast around 65 degrees, with Jacksonville near 63. New Bern and Kinston are both expected near 63 to 64 degrees.
The Outer Banks will be cooler, with Corolla near 51 degrees, Manteo around 52, and Hatteras close to 56. Atlantic Beach and Emerald Isle are projected near 59 to 60 degrees. Despite cooler readings along the immediate coast, conditions remain quiet with partly sunny skies and light southwest winds.
A Calm and Comfortable Day Statewide
Overall, Tuesday brings a welcome stretch of calm weather across North Carolina. With partly sunny skies, light winds, and highs mostly in the 60s, it will be a comfortable day for outdoor plans across Raleigh, Charlotte, Greensboro, Wilmington, and surrounding communities.
