Oklahoma Weather Alert: Weekend Heat Peaks Near 90 Before Slight Cooldown Next Week
TULSA, Oklahoma — Eastern Oklahoma is set for a late-season warmup this weekend as temperatures climb close to 90 degrees Sunday — one of the warmest stretches of fall so far, according to the National Weather Service in Tulsa.
Unseasonably Warm Days Ahead
Forecasters say temperatures will run 10 to 15 degrees above average through the weekend, with highs in the upper 80s to near 90°F across Tulsa, Muskogee, Fort Smith, and Fayetteville. Overnight lows will remain mild, hovering in the low to mid-60s, keeping mornings warmer than usual for October.
“This is an unusually warm stretch for mid-fall,” NWS meteorologists said Thursday. “We’re not seeing any major cold fronts approaching until the middle of next week.”
Dry Pattern Continues
The region’s dry spell also continues. Rain chances are expected to stay near zero through Saturday, with only a 10–20% chance of isolated showers by Monday or Tuesday as a weak system moves north of the area.
Forecasters said any rain that develops will likely be brief and light — offering little relief for parched lawns and dry farmland.
Outdoor Events and Safety Tips
While the warm, sunny weather is ideal for travel and outdoor events, officials are reminding residents to stay hydrated, use sunscreen, and avoid leaving pets or children in vehicles.
Event organizers hosting fall festivals or youth sports this weekend should plan for midday heat exposure, with the UV index remaining high through Sunday.
