Storm Chances Alert

Omaha Weather Forecast: Spotty Morning Showers, Evening Storms Likely Sunday

OMAHA, NE — The weekend will end with a mix of warmth, gusty winds, and scattered thunderstorms as a fall cold front moves across eastern Nebraska. Meteorologists expect spotty showers Sunday morning followed by evening storms that may last through early Tuesday.

Warm And Breezy Start To Sunday

Saturday night will remain mostly clear and mild, with lows in the upper 60s to low 70s and south winds gusting up to 30 mph, according to WOWT’s First Alert Weather Team.

On Sunday, temperatures will again climb into the upper 80s, well above seasonal averages for early October. Gusts could reach 35 mph during the afternoon, creating windy but warm conditions before the approaching cold front.

Storms Move In Late Sunday

Meteorologist Bo Putnam said the first wave of scattered thundershowers will begin forming between 6 and 7 p.m. Sunday, continuing through the night — especially south of Interstate 80.

While the risk of severe weather remains low, residents should be prepared for brief downpours, lightning, and gusty winds. Rain chances will extend into Monday and early Tuesday, tapering off by midday.

Cooler Fall Air Ahead

Persistent cloud cover and morning showers Monday will keep highs in the mid-60s, offering a noticeable shift toward fall-like weather. Skies will gradually clear by Tuesday afternoon, followed by a short warming trend.

By midweek, Omaha should see spotty showers and highs near 80°F, with light winds and partly sunny skies returning by Thursday.
