Oregon Police Chase Ends Bizarrely After Man Crashes Stolen Car Into Woman Driving Another Stolen Car

PORTLAND, OREGON — November 6, 2025 – A police chase in Oregon took an unexpected turn last week when a man fleeing in a stolen car crashed directly into a woman driving another stolen vehicle, authorities confirmed. Both drivers were taken into custody after the astonishing coincidence.

According to the Portland Police Bureau, officers attempted to stop Randy Lee Cooper, who was reportedly driving recklessly through traffic in a stolen vehicle. When Cooper refused to pull over, police initiated a brief pursuit that ended when he crashed head-on into another car — which, as it turned out, was also stolen.

Two Stolen Cars, One Crash

The collision occurred in the downtown Portland area, where officers quickly discovered that the second driver, Kristin Nicole Begue, was operating a vehicle that had been reported stolen several weeks earlier.

Authorities described the incident as both dangerous and oddly coincidental, noting that both drivers appeared to have been committing separate crimes before the crash brought them together.

Cooper, who sustained minor injuries, was arrested on multiple charges, including vehicle theft, assault, reckless driving, and attempting to elude police.

Begue, meanwhile, was also taken into custody after officers determined she was under the influence at the time of the crash. Police said she faces charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and driving under the influence.

Police Describe the Scene as ‘Unbelievable’

Investigators said they were stunned by the rare sequence of events, with one officer describing it as something that “could only happen once in a career.”

“The odds of two stolen cars colliding like this are astronomical,” said one Portland police spokesperson. “It’s one of those moments where you can’t decide if you should laugh or shake your head — but the danger to the public was very real.”

Thankfully, no bystanders were injured in the crash. The incident caused minor traffic disruptions before both vehicles were towed for evidence processing.

Both Suspects Booked After the Crash

Police confirmed that Cooper and Begue were booked into the Multnomah County Jail and are awaiting separate court appearances. Officials did not specify whether the two suspects knew each other prior to the crash.

Authorities have since returned the stolen cars to their rightful owners and reminded the public to remain vigilant about vehicle thefts, which have increased in several Oregon counties over the past year.

The case has since gained national attention for its unusual circumstances, highlighting what officers called a “perfect storm of bad decisions.”
