Thanksgiving Forecast: Mild Gulf Coast Temperatures and Warm, Humid Conditions for Florida
FLORIDA — Thanksgiving weather across the Southeast and Gulf Coast is shaping up to be mild and seasonable — and that rumored “arctic apocalypse snowstorm” isn’t happening after all.
Forecasters confirm that the extreme model predictions circulating online earlier this week were inaccurate, with no major winter storm expected for the holiday. Instead, much of the South will see comfortable conditions, cool mornings, and mild highs in the 50s and 60s along the Gulf Coast.
Gulf Coast and Southeast: Seasonable and Pleasant
The Gulf Coast, stretching from Louisiana to the Florida Panhandle, will experience temperatures between 56°F and 66°F with mostly dry skies and light winds.
Further north, the Tennessee Valley and Carolinas will stay cooler, with daytime highs in the 40s and low 50s under partly cloudy skies.
Forecasters describe this as a “classic late-November setup” — cool, calm, and typical for the season.
“Things look a little chillier the weekend after Thanksgiving, but nothing out of the ordinary for this time of year,” meteorologists said Friday morning.
Florida Stays Warm and Humid
While much of the South enjoys sweater weather, Florida will once again stand out as the warm spot. Highs will climb into the upper 70s and low 80s, particularly across South Florida and coastal areas from Miami to Naples.
Humidity will also return, and scattered light showers could develop through Thursday afternoon and evening. Northern Florida, including Tallahassee and Jacksonville, will be slightly cooler with highs in the low to mid-70s.
Meteorologists note that this warm pattern will persist into Black Friday, before a weak cold front brings minor cooling late in the weekend.
Looking Ahead: Cooler Weekend for the South
The cooler air will slide southward by Saturday and Sunday, bringing a 5–10 degree drop in temperatures across the Gulf Coast and Southeast. Still, no significant storms or freezing conditions are forecast.
Overall, the Thanksgiving weekend outlook is one of the most stable in years — ideal for travelers and outdoor gatherings.
