NAPERVILLE, IL — Naperville police are planning to crack down on impaired driving and seatbelt violations ahead of and including Fourth of July weekend.

The campaign will include increased patrols from June 19 through July 6. Motorists are advised to buckle their seatbelts, avoid distracted driving and designate a sober driver. Police also recommend:

  • Giving a designated driver your keys at the start of your celebration
  • Calling a cab or ride-share service, taking public transportation or arranging a ride if you have been drinking or using marijuana or other substances
  • Pulling over and calling 911 if you see someone who is driving drunk or may be under the influence
