SNOW…. where are you???

When Dan Jones was playing hockey as a child, he fell through the ice.

The water was only waist-deep, but it was it still a lesson learned for the assistant manager of site operations with the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County.

“I wasn’t being careful. I didn’t understand the ice and I walked right through a path that had cat tails,” he said. “Cat tails protruding through the ice is a clear sign that that’s not going to be safe ice. I walked through about 10 feet and it cracked and I fell through up to my waist. By the time I got home, I was frozen.”
