COVID is raging throughout Will County, hospitals are at near capacity levels, and some are shuffling staff around to work in other departments to where they are needed most.
The rolling seven-day test positivity rate for Will County hit 21.9 percent on Dec. 30, according to Will County Health Department Spokesman Matthew Bedore. The Illinois Department of Public Health on Tuesday reported 125,375 COVID cases for Will County, which was 1,184 more cases than were reported on Monday.
Some school districts are now back in session after the winter break, but all have warned parents to keep their children home if they have tested positive for COVID.
“We started school yesterday and have every intention of continuing in-person,” said Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 Director of Communications Tom Hernandez.
