“Vietnam Veterans-Veterans Day” will be observed starting at 10:30AM Mon., March 29, at Veterans Park, located at 303 E. Gartner Road. March 29, 2021, marks the 48th anniversary of the U.S. departure from Vietnam.
Hosted by the Naperville American Legion Post 43 and the Judd Kendall VFW Post 3873, the 30-minute tribute will honor all individuals who served.
“While this anniversary has been a fairly well-kept secret, we will be holding a brief program honoring all that served back then,” noted Wayne Fischer, VN ’67-68-USMC, who currently serves as Sr. Vice Commander, American Legion Department of Illinois. “The highlight of the program is that we will have three Vietnam Veterans as speakers.”
Speakers will share their personal thoughts on “Leaving Home,” “In Country,” and “Coming Home.”
In addition, the ceremony will recognize “11 Naperville Fallen” as they each paid the ultimate price for our Freedoms during the Vietnam conflict, Fischer added.
