Police Chase on Southfield Freeway Ends in Dramatic Crash and Arrests in Dearborn

DEARBORN, MICHIGAN — A high-speed police chase that began in Allen Park ended in a dramatic crash on the Southfield Freeway in Dearborn, with both suspects taken into custody after attempting to flee officers Tuesday afternoon.

According to local authorities, the pursuit started when officers responded to a crash involving a white Ford Fusion in Allen Park. The occupants of the vehicle — who police say were believed to be armed — fled the scene, sparking a pursuit that spanned multiple city jurisdictions.

Chase Spanned Several Miles

The suspects led officers on a wild chase up and down the Southfield Freeway, weaving through traffic before the pursuit came to an end near Michigan Avenue and Evergreen Road in Dearborn.

Dashcam and traffic footage showed multiple police units from Allen Park, Michigan State Police, and Dearborn Police converging on the area as the chase intensified.

“It was a dangerous situation, but officers handled it quickly and professionally,” a Michigan State Police spokesperson said. “We’re thankful no one was injured.”

One Suspect Tried to Flee on Foot

After the Ford Fusion crashed, one of the suspects reportedly jumped a fence near Greenfield Village in an effort to escape. Officers quickly surrounded the area and arrested him within minutes.

The second suspect was taken into custody directly at the crash site without further incident, officials confirmed.

No Injuries Reported

Authorities said no officers or bystanders were hurt during the chase or subsequent arrests. The suspects’ identities have not yet been released, and police have not confirmed whether any weapons were recovered from the vehicle.

The Michigan State Police said the investigation is ongoing and charges are expected to be announced soon.

Residents who witnessed the chase described the scene as “chaotic but controlled,” with sirens echoing across the freeway as officers worked to secure the suspects.

“You could see the police cars flying past — it was like something out of a movie,” one witness said.
