Michigan Police Seek Armed Robbery Suspect Who Held Up Troy Gas Station With AK-Style Rifle
TROY, MICHIGAN — Troy Police are searching for a masked gunman who robbed a Shell gas station early Thursday morning, escaping on foot with cash after threatening a clerk with what appeared to be an AK-style rifle.
Authorities say the incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. on October 30, 2025, at the Shell Gas Station located at 6951 Rochester Road. Officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 2:40 a.m. after reports of an armed robbery came in from the clerk on duty.
Suspect Entered Store Armed and Demanding Cash
According to police, the suspect entered the gas station from the south side of the building, pointed the weapon at the clerk, and demanded money. The frightened employee complied, handing over cash from the register before the suspect ran off behind the building.
Surveillance footage released by the Troy Police Department shows the man entering the store around 2:19 a.m., confronting the employee at gunpoint, and then fleeing south immediately after.
No shots were fired, and no one was injured during the incident, officials confirmed in a press release.
Description of the Armed Suspect
Investigators described the suspect as a stocky Black male, wearing a black ski mask, black hoodie, blue sweatpants, black tennis shoes, and gray gloves.
“The individual was armed and appeared to have planned the robbery carefully,” said a Troy police spokesperson. “We are urging anyone who recognizes the man in the surveillance video to contact investigators immediately.”
The weapon, described by the clerk as an AK-style rifle, was brandished throughout the robbery, though police have not yet confirmed whether it was real or a replica.
