SOUTHFIELD, MICHIGAN — Police in Southfield are investigating a drive-by shooting that left a 53-year-old woman injured Tuesday night after suspects in a vehicle opened fire on a residence near the I-696 and Evergreen area.
Authorities say the shooting occurred around 9:30 p.m. in the block of Berkshire Drive, when a car pulled up to the home and the occupants began firing multiple rounds toward the house. The woman, who was inside at the time, was struck by gunfire.
Police Confirm Victim Hospitalized and Stable
Officers arrived to find evidence of multiple shots fired at the residence. The woman was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, where she was listed in stable condition, according to Metro Detroit News.
At this time, police have not released details about the suspects or the vehicle involved. Investigators said the shooters fled the scene immediately after the attack and remain at large.
Scene Description and Ongoing Investigation
Photos and video from the scene show police tape cordoning off the neighborhood as officers and detectives examined the area for evidence late into the night. Several shell casings were recovered, and detectives are reviewing nearby surveillance footage in an effort to identify the suspects’ vehicle.
Authorities believe the house may have been specifically targeted, but the motive behind the shooting is still under investigation.
