Tampa-Area Teen Brothers Arrested After Detectives Find Guns, Drugs, and Cash in Home Search
TAMPA, Florida — Two teenage brothers are facing serious felony charges after Hillsborough County detectives discovered guns, ammunition, drugs, and cash during a raid at a home in the Tampa area earlier this week.
Search Warrant Leads to Major Discovery
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that 17-year-old Jose Torres and his 15-year-old brother Kevin Torres were arrested on October 7, 2025, after deputies executed a search warrant at their residence on Bethlehem Road.
The search was conducted by the department’s Gun Intelligence Working Group, which focuses on firearm-related offenses and the illegal possession of weapons by minors.
Inside the home, detectives reportedly found:
- A Palmetto State PA-15 AR pistol
- An unmarked AR-style pistol
- A Palmetto State Armory Dagger 9mm handgun
- A Glock 27 handgun
- 64 rounds of assorted ammunition
- Approximately 338 grams of cannabis
- $753 in cash
Charges Filed Against the Brothers
Both teens were charged with:
- Minor in Possession of a Firearm (two counts)
- Armed Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Sell or Deliver
Detectives believe the seized firearms and drugs may be connected to larger illegal activity in the area, though the investigation remains ongoing.
Community Response and Ongoing Investigation
Authorities did not report any injuries during the operation. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has not released additional details about potential adult suspects or the origin of the recovered weapons.
Officials say the arrests are part of a broader county effort to reduce gun violence and youth firearm possession through targeted enforcement and school-based prevention programs.
Anyone with information about illegal firearm activity is urged to contact the HCSO Gun Intelligence Working Group or submit anonymous tips via Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay.
