Children and young adults are accounting for an increasing percentage of COVID-19 cases in DuPage County, the county health department announced Monday.
The number of COVID-19 cases has been on the rise for several days following the beginning phase four of the Restore Illinois plan to reopen businesses across the state and the July 4 weekend, a DuPage County Health Department news release said.
The 7-day rolling average of new COVID-19 cases reported daily in DuPage County has increased 96% in less than four weeks — from a low of 33.3 cases per day June 23 to 65.4 cases per day July 17, the news release said.
DuPage County on July 11 reported 92 new cases of COVID-19, the first time the county reached 90 cases since May 29, DuPage County dashboard information shows. Twenty-seven new cases were reported July 19.
