Within three hours of opening the doors of its new downtown Naperville location Monday, Molly’s Cupcakes sold out of all 1,000 cupcakes it had baked for the day.
The shop at 30 W. Jefferson Ave. opened at noon and had lines of people waiting for a chance to sample the fare, which has a devoted following at its Chicago locations.
“It was just an immediate rush that came in and we handled it well, and then it was two-and-a-half hours of a rush,” said James Jacobson, one of the owners and operators of Molly’s Cupcakes Naperville. “We could have tripled what we had that day. It was amazing and we’re super excited about it. We wish we had more cupcakes for people yesterday.”
