Mom Goes Viral After Making Her Son’s Dream Halloween Costume — A Giant Fart

SOCIAL TRENDS — When most kids say they want to be a superhero or a monster for Halloween, one little boy had a very different idea — he wanted to be a fart.

And his mom, Charntel Wright, didn’t just laugh it off. She got to work and turned her son Arlo’s hilarious request into a full-blown viral sensation.

“He’s Never Been One to Follow the Crowd”

Wright told People that her son’s idea came after scrolling through Halloween costume photos and spotting a boy who had dressed as a fart years earlier.

“Arlo thought it was the funniest thing he’d ever seen,” she recalled. “That was it — decision made.”

Used to her son’s unconventional imagination, Wright embraced the challenge. “He’s never been one to follow the crowd,” she said with a laugh. “So I knew I’d be making something unusual this year.”

Building the Ultimate Flatulence Look

With no ready-made options available online, Wright decided to make the costume herself — and quickly discovered that the “fart costume market is not exactly booming.”

“I bought several rolls of tulle in shades of green and yellow — what I like to call ‘delightful gas cloud,’” she explained. “I sacrificed an old beanie and hot-glued scrunched-up tulle all over it, then did the same with one of my old tops until he looked like a full-bodied puff of wind.”

To complete the gag, she hid a remote-controlled fart machine in Arlo’s pocket. “I kept the remote,” she joked, “for maximum comedic timing.”

A Trick-or-Treat Star Is Born

When Halloween night arrived, Arlo’s costume stole the show. The Wrights live in Surrey, England — an area known for its lively trick-or-treating crowds — and the response was instant.

“As Arlo walked by, I’d hit the remote, and you’d hear this dramatic fart sound,” Wright said. “Children, parents, grandparents — everyone was cracking up. He felt like a celebrity.”

The sound effects combined with the floating green-and-yellow costume created what neighbors called one of the funniest Halloween sights they’d ever seen.

“No one who knows Arlo was surprised,” Wright added. “They just said, ‘Of course he wanted to be a fart.’”

The Viral Moment and Future Plans

The costume video quickly spread online, drawing millions of laughs and thousands of comments praising Wright’s creativity.

Though Arlo has worn more traditional costumes in past years — from astronaut to policeman — Wright says the “fart costume” will always be a family favorite.

“It’s safely stored away,” she said. “I’m saving it for when his little sister decides it’s her turn. And honestly, I truly believe that day will come.”

For now, Arlo has opted for something more low-key. “This year, he said he wants to ‘blend in,’ so he’s going as a skeleton,” Wright shared.

Still, she isn’t ruling out a comeback: “My glue gun is not retired forever. I’m already mentally planning a 2026 return.”
