Remains Of Missing Philadelphia Woman Kada Scott Identified After Anonymous Tip Leads Police To Burial Site
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania — The remains of 23-year-old Kada Scott, who went missing earlier this month, have been identified through DNA testing, according to the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office. The discovery brings a tragic end to a two-week search that had gripped the city and drawn widespread public attention.
District Attorney Larry Krasner confirmed Monday that Scott’s body was found buried in a wooded area behind an abandoned elementary school in the Germantown neighborhood. Investigators were led to the site after receiving an anonymous tip that included a detailed description of the location.
“This case is still developing, but we can confirm through DNA evidence that the remains found Saturday are those of Kada Scott,” Krasner said during a press conference.
Arrest Made In Disappearance
Authorities have already arrested 21-year-old Keon King in connection with Scott’s disappearance. King now faces multiple charges, including arson causing catastrophe, conspiracy, unauthorized use of an automobile, tampering with evidence, recklessly endangering another person, and receipt of stolen property.
Krasner said that while homicide charges have not yet been filed, they are expected soon. “We will move forward with homicide charges once all necessary evidence for probable cause is confirmed,” he stated.
Assistant District Attorney Ashley Toczylowski added that investigators believe more individuals may have been involved in Scott’s disappearance, though their identities have not yet been determined.
Family Expresses Heartbreak And Gratitude
During the press conference, Tania Leonard from the DA’s office read a statement from the victim’s family, expressing both grief and appreciation for the public’s support.
“The family asked to keep them in your prayers,” Leonard read. “They are profoundly thankful to everyone who shared Kada’s story, joined search efforts, prayed with us, and stood by the family during this devastating time. Your compassion, love, and strength have carried us when we cannot carry ourselves.”
Timeline Of Disappearance
Scott disappeared on October 4 after leaving home to work an overnight shift at an assisted-living facility. Her family last saw her around 10 p.m., and she never completed her shift. Her mother’s car — which Scott had been driving — was found still parked at the workplace, with her personal belongings left inside.
Her sudden disappearance prompted a citywide search effort and social media campaigns aimed at finding her.
Suspect’s Violent History Raises Questions
Prosecutors also revealed that King had been accused earlier this year of kidnapping and strangling another woman. However, that case was dismissed when the victim failed to appear in court. In light of his recent arrest, officials have reopened the earlier case for review.
King is currently being held at the Philadelphia County Jail on $2.5 million bail as the investigation continues.
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities are now examining digital evidence, surveillance footage, and phone data to reconstruct the events leading to Scott’s death. Forensic teams are also working to determine the cause of death and the timeline of her burial in the wooded area.
District Attorney Krasner called the case “an unspeakable tragedy,” adding, “Kada’s life was taken far too soon. We are committed to bringing full justice for her and her family.”
