NAPERVILLE, IL — Naperville will begin smoke testing its sanitary sewer lines on June 26. The procedure helps crews check for leaks and spots where storm water can get into the sewer line, a news release said.

During the smoke testing, crews force non-toxic smoke and air through sewer lines. They then watch to see if smoke comes out of the ground, as this could indicate a leak in the sewer line. The process also helps workers see spots where stormwater can get into the sewer lines.
