Readers might jest that we’re going out on a limb. For the second month in a row, our cover will use letters lurking in the treetops to help tell our story. The preponderance of 24-hour news can take you in a gazillion directions, distracting you all the way. Yet when searching the crown and branches of a tree for letters of the alphabet, you have to concentrate.

That’s why we try to unplug and take a long walk every day into our parks, forest preserves or along the Riverwalk, natural treasures of our community where we allow fresh air and freedom to work wonders.

Taking photos of trees also led us to the sled hill and playground at May Watts Park where the joyful noises of families playing outdoors in the snow reminded us how lucky we are to have such a recreational setting in our neighborhood.
