Tenant Fears Harassment After Strange Incidents Captured on Door Camera in Apartment Complex
GEORGIA — A disturbing series of incidents inside a quiet apartment complex has left one tenant feeling unsafe and desperate for answers after her Ring security camera captured a stranger attempting to open her front door late at night.
The woman, who recently moved into a new building with her boyfriend and his best friend, said she has been enduring weeks of loud banging, door tampering, and verbal harassment from unidentified neighbors. The incidents began shortly after the move, escalating from noise complaints to what she now believes could be targeted harassment.
“I’m at a loss,” she wrote in a post seeking advice online. “I’m losing sleep and I work at 5 a.m. — help, guys, what do I do?”
Disturbing Incidents Captured on Camera
According to her account, the tenant first dismissed the noises as normal apartment sounds — footsteps, children playing, or occasional knocks. But one night, while lying in bed, she heard someone violently banging on her front door.
Her roommate later reviewed the Ring doorbell footage, which showed a young woman trying to open their door and run inside. Believing it was a mistake, the tenant brushed it off, until the same week when things worsened.
“Over the next few days, people started kicking the door and trying to turn the knob again,” she wrote. “Children were sitting on the stairs screaming disgusting things at my mother when she came to visit.”
The footage timestamped at 9:23 p.m. EDT shows a hallway with someone walking toward the apartment door — a clip the tenant says only scratches the surface of the harassment they’ve faced since moving in.
Building Management Offers Little Help
When the tenant approached the building’s management for help, she says the manager dismissed her concerns, claiming there was nothing they could do without knowing who the individuals were.
“She said since I can’t tell them these people’s first and last names, there’s nothing they can do,” the tenant explained. “But I’m pretty sure the people who were messing with our door live above us on the third floor.”
Being harassed (I think?)

Despite multiple complaints, the tenant says the disturbances have continued — with heavy banging noises from the ceiling and loud arguments from upstairs residents making it difficult to sleep or work.
Safety Concerns in Apartment Communities
Experts say that incidents like this highlight the growing concern over tenant safety and building accountability in multi-unit housing. Renters often rely on smart security devices like Ring cameras to document harassment, but without active management intervention, the problem can persist.
“If tenants are being harassed or threatened, they should immediately file a police report and request a case number for documentation,” said a property safety consultant based in Chicago. “Building management must also be notified in writing, not just verbally. A written paper trail creates legal accountability.”
Residents are also encouraged to keep digital evidence, such as security footage and timestamps, which can help law enforcement identify suspects or prove repeated harassment.
Tenant’s Struggle for Peace of Mind
For now, the tenant says she’s running out of options. Despite installing the Ring camera, calling the police, and contacting management, the disturbances continue almost nightly.
“I genuinely cannot think of what they would be doing that would naturally make the kind of banging that’s coming from my ceiling,” she wrote. “I’m scared and exhausted.”
While she remains hopeful the situation will calm down, her story has resonated with other renters online who say they’ve faced similar harassment or lack of response from landlords.
