As of July 1, 2019, using a hand-held electronic device in your car will be considered a moving violation under new state law in Illinois. So, even if you are just holding your mobile phone while driving and especially if you are holding it up to your ear to talk, you are liable to get a moving violation ticket starting July 1, 2019.

IMPORTANT: If you collect three offenses in one year your license will be suspended.
