15-Year-Old Liam Delemo Fatally Stabbed at West Babylon House Party, Police Search for Suspect

WEST BABYLON, NEW YORK — A quiet Long Island neighborhood was shaken this weekend after 15-year-old Liam Delemo was fatally stabbed at a house party in West Babylon, prompting an urgent investigation by the Suffolk County Homicide Squad.

Authorities said the stabbing occurred late Saturday night on Carllton Avenue, where officers arrived to find the teen critically wounded. Delemo was transported to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Police Investigating Teen’s Fatal Stabbing

According to Suffolk County Police, the suspect fled the scene before officers arrived. Detectives are now canvassing the area, interviewing witnesses, and reviewing video footage from nearby homes and street cameras.

“Our hearts go out to this family,” a Suffolk County Police spokesperson said. “We are pursuing every lead to bring justice for Liam.”

No arrests have been made as of Tuesday morning, though investigators say they have identified several persons of interest.

A Promising Student Remembered

Liam’s parents described their son as a bright and kind student who excelled academically and was deeply loved by his teachers and peers.

His father, Mike Delemo, told Newsday that they had allowed Liam to attend the party just around the corner from their home, confident he would return early.

“We trusted him — he was a good kid, an honor student,” Delemo said. “Then we got a frantic call from one of his friends saying he’d been stabbed. It’s every parent’s worst nightmare.”

Neighbors say the party had drawn a mix of local teens and others from nearby towns, and tensions reportedly escalated shortly before the incident.

Community in Mourning

The tragedy has left residents of West Babylon reeling, with memorials appearing outside the Delemo home and at the scene of the stabbing. Friends and classmates gathered over the weekend, leaving candles, flowers, and handwritten notes remembering the 15-year-old as “funny,” “loyal,” and “the kind of person who made everyone feel welcome.”

Local schools have made grief counselors available to students struggling to process the loss.

Ongoing Investigation

The Suffolk County Homicide Squad urges anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.

Authorities say the investigation remains active as they continue to determine what led to the fatal confrontation.
