Miami Man Accused of Running Over Woman He Met on Dating App After Refusing to Pay Her $1,000 for Used Shoes and Foot-Smelling Request

MIAMI, FLORIDA — A 28-year-old Miami man, identified as Elmonce Sercle, is facing serious charges after prosecutors say he ran over a woman in a parking garage following a bizarre confrontation involving a $1,000 request to buy her used shoes and smell her feet. Investigators say the two met through a dating app, and the incident unfolded at the Serena Hotel in Aventura on August 24.

What Led to the Confrontation at the Hotel

According to investigators, Sercle arranged to meet the woman, who works as a foot model, after messaging her about smelling her feet and purchasing her used sneakers for $1,000.
However, once they met in person, Sercle refused to pay, leading to tension inside the hotel room.

When the woman briefly stepped into the bathroom, police say Sercle suddenly fled the room, prompting the victim to believe he had stolen her belongings. She chased after him into the hotel parking garage, where the situation quickly escalated.

Surveillance Footage Shows the Moment of Impact

Newly released surveillance video, shared by prosecutors, shows the moment Sercle allegedly struck the woman with his vehicle, knocking her to the ground before speeding off. Officials say the woman suffered road rash and bruising, but she was able to walk away from the scene and later speak with officers.

Investigators reported that she had attempted to stop Sercle under the belief that he had taken something from her during his sudden exit from the hotel room.

Charges Filed and Ongoing Case Details

Following a review of the video evidence and witness statements, prosecutors charged Sercle with aggravated battery, a felony offense under Florida law. Aggravated battery is typically applied when a victim is intentionally struck with a vehicle, a situation considered legally equivalent to being attacked with a deadly weapon.

Courtroom footage shows Sercle appearing before a judge in an orange jail uniform as prosecutors outlined the unusual set of events that led to the woman’s injuries.

The victim, though shaken and injured, did not require hospitalization and is expected to recover.

Further hearings are scheduled as investigators continue gathering evidence, including additional interviews and digital correspondence from the dating app where the two initially connected.
