Dearborn Heights Police Capture Four Carjacking Suspects After Dramatic Late-Night Chase and Crash
DEARBORN HEIGHTS, MICHIGAN — A late-night police pursuit that began with a carjacking in Inkster ended in a violent crash and four arrests early this month, according to authorities.
The incident unfolded around 2 a.m., when Dearborn Heights officers monitoring radio traffic learned that Inkster Police were responding to a reported carjacking near John Daly and Dartmouth. Minutes later, officers spotted the suspect vehicle entering Dearborn Heights near Michigan Avenue and Beech Daly, prompting a coordinated pursuit effort.
Suspects Crash Into Residence After Refusing to Stop
Police attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to pull over, instead fleeing at high speed through residential areas. The chase ended when the vehicle lost control and crashed into a home near Cherry Hill and Gulley, authorities said.
“It was a dangerous situation, but officers acted with incredible professionalism and control,” Dearborn Heights Police Chief Ahmed Haidar said in a statement.
Four Suspects Captured After Attempted Escape
Investigators reported that all four suspects fled the crash scene on foot. Officers quickly apprehended three of them nearby, while the fourth suspect was captured 30 minutes later after a perimeter search with assistance from Inkster Police.
Authorities confirmed that the suspects are now in custody and facing multiple charges related to the carjacking, pursuit, and crash.

Following the arrests, Dearborn Heights Mayor Mo Baydoun publicly praised law enforcement for their professionalism and reaffirmed the city’s zero-tolerance stance on criminal activity.
“Our city will not tolerate violent crime,” Baydoun said. “We stand firmly behind our officers and their commitment to keeping Dearborn Heights safe.”
