LINCOLN, NE — The Lincoln Police Department is investigating an apparent murder-suicide after a man and woman were found dead inside their home in the city’s near south neighborhood Friday morning.
Police Find Couple Deceased In Home
Officers responded around 10:45 a.m. to a welfare check at a residence near South 14th and Sumner Streets, after concerns were raised about the occupants’ safety. When officers entered the home, they found two 51-year-olds — a man and a woman — deceased in a bedroom with multiple gunshot wounds.
Authorities said preliminary evidence indicates the deaths were the result of a murder-suicide, and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
Investigation Continues
Police have not yet released the names of the victims, pending family notification. The Lincoln Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit continues to process evidence from the scene.
