Omaha Police Seek Masked Robber Who Threatened to Shoot Walmart Customers During Late-Night Heist
OMAHA, Nebraska — Omaha police are searching for a masked man who threatened to shoot customers and employees during a robbery at a Walmart store near 50th and L Streets late last month.
Suspect Threatened to Open Fire
According to police, the robbery occurred around 10 p.m. on August 29, when the suspect — described as a white male with shaggy blonde hair and a medium build — entered the store wearing a black jacket, red hat, and medical mask.
The man reportedly spent about 20 minutes pacing around the store before approaching a customer service employee with a plastic bag.
“Put the money in the bag or I’ll shoot someone in the store,” the suspect allegedly told her, according to the police report.
After taking an undisclosed amount of cash, the man walked out on foot, leaving the area before officers could arrive.
Caught on Camera
Surveillance footage captured the suspect’s distinctive appearance — particularly his long blonde hair and red hat with a white circle emblem. Investigators are urging the public to take a close look at the images.
No injuries were reported, but officials say the threat was taken extremely seriously given the crowded store and potential danger to shoppers.
Police Asking for Public’s Help
Omaha police are encouraging anyone who recognizes the suspect to contact Crime Stoppers at 402-444-STOP (7867) or use the “P-3 Tips” app to submit information anonymously.
Tips leading to an arrest could qualify for a cash reward.
Community Reacts to Frightening Incident
Shoppers who frequent the area say the robbery serves as a reminder to stay aware of surroundings even in familiar places. “It’s scary knowing something like that can happen while you’re just picking up groceries,” one local resident said.
Authorities continue to review security footage and collect witness statements.
