Bladensburg, Maryland — A community celebration turned tragic Saturday night when a driver plowed into a child’s birthday party, killing one woman and injuring 13 others, including several children, in Prince George’s County, just outside Washington, D.C.
According to Bladensburg Police, partygoers were gathered under a yard tent when a vehicle drove directly into the group around 10 p.m. The crash, which occurred near the 5200 block of Quincy Street, is being investigated as a fatal hit-and-run.

Authorities identified the victim as 31-year-old Ashley Hernandez Gutierrez of Washington, D.C. Officials said the driver — a 66-year-old man whose name has not been publicly released — fled the scene immediately after the crash but later turned himself in to police.
In total, 13 individuals were injured, including eight minors and five adults. Bladensburg Police said, “Six of the juvenile victims have been treated and released, and one has been admitted and is in stable condition.” Among the adults, three were hospitalized in stable condition, one remained under evaluation, and another was released following treatment.
