Early Morning Fires Destroy Vacant House and Vehicle in Homeland Park, Anderson County

ANDERSON, SOUTH CAROLINA — Fire crews in Anderson County are investigating the cause of two early morning fires that broke out Sunday in the Homeland Park area, destroying a vacant house and a nearby vehicle.

According to Malarkey News, the first fire was reported around 6:30 a.m. on the 3200 block of Highway 28 in Anderson. Flames were seen consuming a vacant home on one side of the road, while a bucket truck parked directly across the street was also found fully engulfed in flames.

Witnesses reported heavy smoke and visible flames lighting up the sky before fire and EMS crews arrived at the scene.

Crews Battle Dual Fires Across Highway 28

Firefighters from local Anderson County departments responded quickly to control the twin blazes. Photos captured by Mandy Holder, shared by Malarkey News, show intense flames rising above trees as firefighters worked to contain the spread.

The fires were extinguished before they could threaten nearby homes, though both the vacant structure and the old truck sustained severe damage.

Authorities have not released details about possible connections between the two fires or whether they may have started simultaneously.

Cause Remains Under Investigation

As of Sunday afternoon, investigators had not yet determined what sparked either blaze. Homeland Park Fire Department officials are expected to review the incident with assistance from Anderson County Fire Investigators.

No injuries were reported in connection with either fire.

Residents in the area say the property where the house burned has been vacant for several months, raising questions about whether the fires may have been accidental or intentionally set.

Officials Urge Caution During Fall Fire Season

Fire officials are reminding residents to remain cautious during the autumn fire season, when dry conditions and cool winds can allow flames to spread rapidly.

Anyone with information about the Homeland Park fires is asked to contact the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office or the South Carolina State Fire Marshal’s Office.
