Loaded Gun Recovered on Campus
Inside the student’s backpack, deputies found a pistol with a loaded magazine containing seven 9mm rounds, though investigators confirmed there was no round in the chamber. The gun was immediately secured and removed from the scene.
Authorities said no students or staff were injured, and the situation was contained without incident.
Sheriff Commends Swift Action
Sheriff Chad Chronister praised the actions of both school staff and law enforcement, crediting their teamwork with preventing a potential tragedy.
“This swift response stopped a potentially dangerous situation before anyone was harmed,” Chronister said. “Weapons will never be tolerated in our schools.”
He also encouraged parents to speak with their children about the serious risks and lifelong consequences of bringing firearms or weapons onto school grounds.
Investigation Ongoing
The student was taken into custody and charged with possession of a weapon on school property. Authorities said the investigation remains active and that additional updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
