NAPERVILLE — A slow start in the second half helped sink the Illinois Wesleyan basketball team during an 82-69 loss to No. 18-ranked North Central on Wednesday at Gregory Arena.

IWU fell to 9-5 overall and 3-2 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, while the Cardinals improved to 11-3 and 4-1.

“The last two or three minutes of the first half we kind of lost our focus and allowed them to build a lead and gain momentum,” Wesleyan coach Ron Rose said. “Coming out after the half, they dictated the action.”
