Oklahoma Man Arrested After Stalking Woman Across Multiple States
OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA — A man accused of stalking a woman across three states has been arrested in Oklahoma City, ending what police describe as a bizarre and persistent case of obsession that began more than two years ago.
Authorities say John Driskill tracked his victim from New Mexico to Colorado, before ultimately locating her in Oklahoma, where she was teaching a class at a dance and yoga studio.
Long-Term Stalking Investigation Leads to Arrest
According to The Village Police Department, Driskill had been attempting to contact the woman repeatedly since before 2022, despite her efforts to cut off communication.
“Once we got the information, we got our investigations division involved,” said Capt. Ryan Jacobson. “Turns out that they’ve had contact all the way since back prior to 2022, but he has been attempting contact with her since then — which, again, is unwanted contact and in essence stalking her.”
Investigators received a tip last week that the suspect had traveled to the Oklahoma City area. Police quickly confirmed his location through social media activity and previous police reports from other states, which showed a pattern of harassment.
Arrest Outside Yoga Studio
Police said Driskill showed up at a yoga studio on Sunday, where the victim was holding a class. Officers had already set up a perimeter around the building to intercept him.
“When Driskill pulled in, police surrounded his vehicle and ordered him out,” Jacobson said. “There was no resistance; he obeyed commands and complied, and we took him into custody.”
During a search of Driskill’s vehicle, officers found two shirts painted to represent the victim and two knives in the front seat, according to the police report.
Suspect Has Violent Criminal History
Authorities say Driskill has prior charges in another state for shooting from a vehicle and other violent offenses. Investigators believe his behavior showed clear signs of stalking and fixation on his victim.
“Some of the stuff we were able to uncover during the investigation shows that he was definitely stalking this female victim,” Jacobson said.
Driskill is currently being held in the Oklahoma County Jail. Due to his previous violent history, police said his bond was set at $1 million.
The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office and The Village Police Department continue to investigate the case, which they say highlights the dangers of digital stalking and cross-state harassment.
