Teen Crashes Grocery Cart Into Parked Truck During Stunt in Bridgeton Parking Lot

BRIDGETON, MISSOURI — A group of teens gathered in a shopping center parking lot over the weekend, and one of their stunts went wrong when a teen riding a grocery cart downhill crashed into a parked pickup truck, according to footage shared online.

Video Captures Reckless Parking Lot Stunt

The viral video, originally posted by New Realst1 News, shows a group of teens cheering as one of them launches down a slope inside a grocery cart. The joyride ends abruptly when the cart hits a curb, flipping and slamming into a parked pickup truck. Witnesses can be heard gasping as the teen tumbles out of the cart.

While the video cuts off shortly after the crash, witnesses said the teen avoided serious injury. The truck, however, appeared to suffer visible damage.

No Injuries Reported, But Officials Warn of Dangers

Authorities have not confirmed whether police were called to the scene, but locals who saw the video say the stunt highlights a growing problem — reckless behavior in parking lots, often recorded for social media views.

Thankfully, no medical treatment was required for the teen involved, according to the post. However, safety advocates note that such stunts can easily end in serious head or spinal injuries.

“This kind of activity might look harmless, but it’s incredibly risky,” one Bridgeton resident commented on social media. “Kids are doing these things for viral attention without thinking about what could go wrong.”

Echoes of “Jackass” Influence on Teen Culture

The video has reignited discussion about the influence of early 2000s stunt culture, such as MTV’s Jackass, which inspired a wave of dangerous copycat behavior among young people.

“While many of us remember the Jackass era, these real-life recreations are no joke,” said one local youth counselor. “Teens often underestimate the risks because they think accidents only happen to someone else.”

Property Damage and Liability Questions

The owner of the parked pickup truck has not been publicly identified, but commenters on the video noted that property damage liability could fall on the teen’s parents, depending on the extent of the damage and local ordinances.

Missouri law allows vehicle owners to file claims for damage caused by reckless behavior, even if the incident occurs in a private lot.

Community Response: A Teachable Moment

While many online viewers found the video shocking, others hope it serves as a wake-up call about safety and accountability.

“Thankfully no one was seriously hurt,” one commenter wrote. “But next time, it could be worse — and no viral clip is worth that.”

As the video continues to circulate online, Bridgeton officials are urging parents to remind their teens that even small stunts can have real-world consequences.
