Tornado Warning Issued for Lancaster and Queen City Missouri as Tornado-Capable Storm Moves East at 40 MPH — Take Shelter Immediately

MISSOURI — A Tornado Warning has been issued for northern Missouri as a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located 10 miles northwest of Queen City and 10 miles west of Lancaster, moving east at 40 mph. Residents in and around Lancaster, Livonia, Downing, and Queen City are in the direct path of this storm and must take shelter immediately. Do not wait to see or hear a tornado before seeking shelter.

Storm Located Northwest of Queen City Moving Toward Lancaster

The warned storm is tracking eastward at 40 mph, placing Lancaster and the surrounding communities directly in the path of the tornado threat. The radar imagery shows a strong rotation signature indicated by the deep pink and purple velocity couplet on the warning polygon, centered near Livonia and tracking toward Lancaster and Downing.

The warning polygon covers a defined zone that includes Lancaster, Livonia, and Downing. Anyone within or near this polygon must be underground or in an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building right now.

Seek Shelter Now — Do Not Delay

This is an active Tornado Warning. The time to act is not when you hear the storm approaching — it is right now. Move to the lowest floor of a sturdy structure, away from windows, and place as many walls between yourself and the outside as possible.

If you are in a mobile home or vehicle, abandon it immediately and seek the nearest substantial structure or a low-lying ditch well away from trees and vehicles. Do not attempt to outrun the storm by driving.

With the storm moving east at 40 mph, additional communities along the Highway 63 corridor east of Lancaster including Bloomfield, Drakesville, and Downing should remain on high alert and monitor conditions closely.
