North Carolina Friday Forecast: Raleigh, Charlotte, Greenville and Wilmington See Cooler Temperatures with Calm Sunshine Across the State
RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA — A cooler but calm weather pattern is settling across North Carolina on Friday, bringing a refreshing start to the day followed by partly to mostly sunny skies and afternoon temperatures generally ranging from the 50s to low 60s across much of the state.
Forecasters say the day will remain mostly tranquil despite a light breeze, offering a pleasant break in weather conditions for many communities from the mountains to the coast.
Cooler Start Across the Mountains and Foothills
Western North Carolina is beginning the day with the coolest temperatures across the state. Mountain communities such as Boone and Todd are expected to see highs around 54 degrees, while nearby Sparta and Banner Elk remain slightly cooler near 52 degrees.
Cities including Marshall and Newland are forecast to reach 59 degrees, while Asheville and Marion should see afternoon highs close to 60 degrees. Farther southwest, Cherokee and Robbinsville could warm to around 60 degrees, while Sylva may reach 63 degrees, one of the warmer readings in the western region.
Piedmont Cities Expect Mild Afternoon Temperatures
Across the central Piedmont region, temperatures are expected to climb slightly higher as sunshine develops through the day. Greensboro and Winston-Salem are forecast to reach around 57 degrees, while Mount Airy and Danbury could see highs near 56 degrees.
In the Charlotte metro area, temperatures may climb to about 62 degrees, with nearby communities like Mooresville reaching around 61 degrees. Farther south and east, Sanford and Raleigh are also expected to reach 61 degrees, keeping the region comfortably mild throughout the afternoon.
Warmer Temperatures Expected in Eastern North Carolina
Eastern North Carolina will see slightly warmer conditions compared with the mountains and central areas. Cities such as Greenville, Goldsboro, and Kinston are forecast to reach around 63 degrees, while Wilson and Plymouth may reach about 61 degrees.
Along the coastal plain, Jacksonville and Atlantic could see highs around 63 degrees, with New Bern near 62 degrees. Near the coast, Wilmington is expected to reach about 64 degrees, making it one of the warmer locations in the state Friday afternoon.
Outer Banks Remain Slightly Cooler
Communities along the Outer Banks will experience cooler temperatures influenced by the Atlantic Ocean. Cape Hatteras and Avon are forecast to reach around 56 to 57 degrees, while Ocracoke may climb to 58 degrees. Corolla and the northern Outer Banks should see highs around 55 degrees, keeping conditions noticeably cooler than inland areas.
Breezy but Comfortable Conditions
Winds across the state will generally blow from the southwest between 10 and 15 mph, creating a light breeze throughout the day. Despite the cooler start, the combination of sunshine and mild temperatures is expected to make Friday a comfortable day for most residents across North Carolina.
